1. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is a natural anti-inflammatory that not only works on sunburns but also, when ingested, soothes an inflamed esophagus and stomach lining. Just mix two to three ounces with eight ounces of coconut water or fruit juice, and have that 15 to 20 minutes before eating.
2. Pineapple Juice
Pineapple juice is another natural remedy to provide relief from acidity and heartburn. Drink a glass of pineapple juice if you have had a spicy meal and detect symptoms of acidity. Pineapple juice is a tried and tested remedy to prevent as well as reduce hyperacidity and heartburn. Pineapples also contain bromelain, which is an enzyme that helps controls levels of hydrochloric acid in your stomach and works to prevent severe acid reflux. Besides pineapple juice, edible aloe vera juice is also known to be a coolant and a natural remedy to relieve heartburn.
3. Mint Leaves
Mint leaves can also help when suffering from indigestion or acidity. Mint leaves are one of the best coolants available in nature and thus this property makes them reduce the burning and pain that often accompanies acidity and indigestion. Mint helps lower the acid content of the stomach and improves digestion. Chop on some mint leaves to control and soothe acidity or boil a few leaves and drink the water once it cools to boost stomach and intestine health.
4. Ginger Tea
Ginger is marvelous for all kinds of health related issues. It can help relieve motion sickness and improve blood circulation. It helps ward off heart disease, improves your immune system, and helps you fight bacterial infections. Plus, it can help you ward off acid reflux. Place a few thin slices of ginger root tea in a mug and steep in hot water for 10 – 20 minutes. Then drink. It can help calm an upset tummy or stop it from even occurring.
5. Baking Soda
With its high pH level, baking soda helps neutralize acid in your stomach. If acid is rising from your stomach into your esophagus, the baking soda will help stop the acid from burning the lining. Simply swallow a teaspoon of it when you’re experiencing pain.
Mustard is another alkaline food. It’s loaded with minerals and has trace amounts of acid from vinegar. Consuming a spoonful of it during the onset of acid reflux symptoms can help soothe your heartburn by balancing your pH levels.
